In State Vs. Out of State Executor

When designating your executor, or personal representative, of your estate you want to choose someone you trust.  The best case scenario is to choose someone you trust and lives nearby.  If you choose someone who lives out of state they have a few more loops to jump through.  First, travel is something they will need to factor in and they may charge the estate travel fees.  Being an executor can be very time demanding.  Additionally, picking an out of state executor may also slow the process down if documents need to be mailed, signed and returned. An in-state executor will still have to administer your assets and pay creditors, but their commute will be more convenient.  In the end, choose an executor who is best suited for the job.
